I learned about it from anotherlunch.com, one of my favorite blogs.
The style is called bento, and it's a Japanese way of packing lunches to eliminate garbage.
Plus...it's cute!! :)
The very first bento I ever did! It's got grapes with a fruit leather airplane, rolled turkey slice, carrot 'coins' with another fruit leather airplane, and tiny cookies. The other side has pasta with ranch and cheese airplanes and diamonds. :)
Second bento!! :) I am so pleased with how the apple turned out...the first time I'd ever made the checkerboard apple! There are mixed veggies, dinosaur shaped pb&j, and animal crackers.
This one is not quite as cute...I was going for a 'make-your-own-Lunchable' type deal...cheese triangles, turkey squares, green beans, and pineapple on sword picks with sprinkles. Then there's Ritz crackers, pickle circles on sword picks, and tiny cookies.
I liked this one! :) Goldfish, salami on sword picks, and a pickle. Then Toy Story 3 mac n cheese (boy am I glad Ethan doesn't mind some leftovers in his lunch! LOL!) and his name cut out of fruit leather.
My favorite one so far!! I was going for a theme on this one...ABCs and 123s! We have O shaped cookies, Scrabble Jr. Cheez-Its, celery bites (they looked like Cs to me!), and salami letters and numbers. The other side has ABCs and 123s Spaghettio's and ABC and 124 cheese. :)
It's helped me pack healthier lunches for Ethan, and it's sort of a hobby now. HA! It's addicting. :)
